We are open to purchase any aircraft, but the planned airplane is the Sling TSi, designed, developed and manufactured in Gauteng, near Johannesburg (south of Uncle Charlie’s) close to the town center of Eikenhof, a little way south on the old Vereeniging Road. A couple of 100 yards away from where I grew up in the 160’s. Who would’ve known that the Amazon Missions’ prospective airplane, was going to be built a short distance from my childhood home?
The Sling TSi does short/ soft field takeoffs and landings, as is necessary in the Amazon. It cruises intercontinentally on car gas at economical costs. The South African developed Sling is internationally acclaimed as one of the top 5 sport (type) airplanes, having won itself a place in the Guinness World Book of Records for the fastest time (non-stop) in a 2-seater airplane between Argentina and South Africa. Flown on Mogas (car gas/petrol), its reliability was proved by going around the world. Its operating cost is around US$ 60/hr at 155 kts cruising (TAS), burning 7-8 G/ph/ 28 L/ph of car gas/ petrol, while at 130 kts operating cost is much lower.
It reaches Natal, Brazil from Conakry, Guinea, Africa, cruising at 130 kts, an altitude of 18 000 ft/ 5487 m, covering 1830 mi/ 1590 n.mi/ 2944 km. The maximum range of 800 n.mi (1482 km) is extended by placing a hopper tank on the back seat. With a maximum gross weight of 2095 lb/ 950 kg (it has an emergency aircraft parachute) and an empty weight of 1080 lb/ 490 kg (useful load 1015 lb/ 460 kg) it weighs lighter than the same type of aircrafts but loads more than they do. The lighter Rotax 915 iS Turbocharged Intercooled Engine climbs it a 1000 ft p/min/ 305 m p/min pushing out 141 hp.
This plane costs US$ 180 000.00 - 36% of the cost of other planes of its class and type. Compare the statistics with aircraft of its category, class and type and see how the overall economy and optimal efficiency, surpasses them. We’re using this plane, in the place of a car, for witness tours internationally, continuing to advocate God’s work in the Amazon, as we’ve done for the past 27 years.
Our main drive continues to be reaching more tribes for JESUS, more effectively with the plane, taking Bibles in to the Amazon Jungle. Everyone’s support towards this mission of God is catapulting us into more resourceful ways of doing this.
